Dreaming of University
I recall my earlier days there was something very important. Dreams of going to college makes it exciting for me to enter on order of my life and recognize and develop more. I will know new people. Now this dream happened at the university.
Are you excited to be at University? Is important to you?

Christmas-time

Christmas is just around the corner, for us in Turkey, we do not feel the fever, since we are Muslims. But we count down the days because christmas ushers in a new year. We also count down the days to the and of the winter break.
So, its eleven days to the new year. And we are looking forward to travel to Kayseri to celebrate the new year with my friends.
Christmas was last week (December 25!) did you do anything special? Do you have plans to celebrate the New Year?

Little girl calls for help - Very sweet

This video is very sweet. A little five year-old girl calls the police and helps take care of her dad. Her dad  is having a heart attack and needs help, but can not talk on the phone. So his daughter calls and talks for him.

Watch the video. What does the girl sound like? Is she scared? Frightened? Nervous? Upset? Relaxed? Excited? Did you help someone when they were injured or sick? What were you like?

Christmas!

On Saturday Jeremy and I enjoyed Christmas. We gave gifts to each other, watched movies, and ate a lot of food. On Saturday we went to Sanko Park and saw the big ebru that Zirve did. We also talked to our families in America.
Our families were all together and enjoying Christmas. They played games, they ate food, they opened gifts, and they talked to us. It is difficult not being with our families in the holidays.

Do you miss your family while you are at university? Do you talk to your family often? Or, does your family live in Gaziantep? Do you think it would be difficult to not live with your family?

Counting down the days...

There are only five more "sleeps" till Christmas!

For Americans this is one of the most exciting times of the year. We are all counting down the days until Christmas day. It is so exciting. There is a "buzz" in the air from all of the excitement. Christmas isn't the only time we count down the days. Sometimes we will count the days until school is finished, especially in the summer time. Or maybe it is counting the days till your family goes away on a trip. Sometimes we count the days until something really little - like going to watch a movie with friends. But other times it is for something very, very important - like the days until your wedding.

What makes you excited? Have you counted down the days to something before? What was it?

To Live and Work

When you are a child you do not get to choose where you live. You live with your parents. It may be in a big city or a little village. It may be hot, crowded, and polluted or it may be quiet and clean. Usually, people like the place where they lived as a child. When you get older you can choose where you want to live. I really like to visit big cities like London, New York, and Istanbul but I would not want to live there. I really like to go hiking and skiing in the mountains but I would not want to live there all the time. I would like to live in a place that is a medium-size city. I like to be able to do lots of things in the city. I also like to go out of the city and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside.

Where do you want to live? Do you like big cities? Do you like small towns? Tell us what you like and why.

A Wet and Rainy Day

On Saturday and Sunday it was very rainy outside. Because it was so cold and wet we stayed inside. We watched a new movie. We ate popcorn and drank lots of coffee. We both like to read books for fun. This weekend we read a lot! Kylie finished one book that she had been reading. Instead of going outside most of the day we stayed home and spent time inside.

Some people say when it rains they are "stuck inside." Other people like to be inside on a rainy day. Do you like when it is cold and rainy outside? What do you do when you cannot go out?

Numb3rs!

One of my favorite shows is called NUMB3RS. The show is usually about two brothers, Don and Charlie. Don is a detective. He is very good at solving crimes. Charlie is a math teacher at a University. He is very smart. Sometimes Don asks Charlie to help him solve crimes. Charlie uses math to help Don figure out how a crime happened. Sometimes Charlie even can help Don guess where a crime will happen in the future. It is amazing how he can use numbers. Don and Charlie are good friends and good brothers. Together they make a good team.

Term #2 is here!

Welcome back! So, Jeremy and I are learning Turkish right now. It is difficult to learn a new language! You are all learning English. When you are learning a new language, you must spend time working at it in different ways. For example, Jeremy and I have a textbook, flashcards, and sticky notes on things. Our friends put new vocabulary words on everything in their house. What do you do to learn English? How do you practice outside of class?
